Ka-ching! Kids just love playing ‘store’, and taking on the role of the cashier. Why not use this pretend game as a fun math activityto teach them all about money? Give your children real money and teach them the value of the different coins and notes. Then let them set up a store, decide on the prices of the products and manage the checkout counter. By calculating the cost of the items, counting the money used to pay for them and calculating the change due, kids get valuable practice in math concepts like money, addition, subtraction and decimals! The difficulty level of this money activity can be adjusted by controlling the price of the objects and the coins used in the transactions.
